界首彩陶主要采用拉坯工艺来成型，即利用陶轮车的旋转来制作泥坯。拉坯过程中，手要不时蘸水以保持泥料的湿度和可塑性，同时要手眼协调、上下一致，把整块泥料拉至薄厚均匀的所需形状。这是一项考验功力、需要制陶艺人多年反复练习才能掌握的技术。

Jieshou Colored Pottery primarily uses the "throwing" technique to shape the clay, a process that involves spinning the clay on a potter's wheel. As the wheel rotates, the artisan's hands, frequently dipped in water to maintain the clay's moisture and pliability, guide the material into form. The potter must skillfully coordinate both hands and eyes, ensuring that the clay is evenly stretched to the desired thickness and shape. This process is not just about technique; it is an art that requires years of practice to master, as the potter's touch breathes life into each piece, transforming raw clay into a balanced vessel.

修坯 · Refinement

完成拉坯后的泥坯需放置于避光通风的室内阴干，期间注意将泥坯上下翻转，以使泥坯上下部的干燥速度保持一致。泥坯湿度达到要求后，将其放在陶轮车转盘上，用金属修坯刀将泥坯表面修平整。

Once the clay piece is shaped, it is set aside to air-dry in a dark, well-ventilated area. During this stage, the piece must be carefully monitored and flipped periodically to ensure even drying from top to bottom. When the clay reaches the appropriate moisture level, it is placed back on the potter's wheel for trimming. Using a metal trimming knife, the artisan smooths and refines the surface, removing any imperfections and ensuring that the piece has a polished, even finish. This meticulous refining step is crucial for enhancing the final appearance and structural integrity of the pottery.
