The journey of Jieshou Colored Pottery begins with the preparation of "Da Jiaoni" clay. Once excavated, this clay is dried and crushed into a fine powder, then sieved to remove impurities. The filtered clay powder is mixed with water to form a smooth slurry, which is left to settle. This process allows any remaining impurities to separate and ensures the clay reaches the ideal moisture content for pottery-making.

The clay is then stored in a cool, shaded area to mature. During this time, natural microorganisms thrive within the clay, while water permeates evenly throughout.
